 20 Weeks Old

July 21-27

We began the week by celebrating Mommy's bday! Riley and Mommy spent the day together and went into Fergus to have a birthday lunch with daddy. For supper Riley had a tiny...and I mean tiny (like fork prong tip) taste of Momma's ice cream birthday cake!  I'm definitely not one to allow him to try foods before he is ready just because it is cute, but since it was my birthday, I thought a pin head of ice cream wouldn't hurt him.  His reaction was pretty blank...not sure if he even tasted it!

Happy 28th Birthday, Mommy!

Riley's very first tooth poked through on Mommy's birthday--July 21! It is one of his lower middle teeth!  It looked like another one, right next to it, would pop though soon and it did on Thursday July 24!  TWO teeth in ONE week....poor little guy! 

I believe due to these teeth emerging, Riley continues to have a few problems sleeping through the night. There have been a couple nights where he woke up three times during a night.  However, when he wakes up, after a little cuddling or rocking, he usually goes right back to sleep.

Wednesday Riley and mommy went to Grandpa Dave's house to begin packing the camper for the Black/Wetterling reunion. Riley stayed with grandpa while mommy went into town to buy groceries. 

Thursday daddy stayed home for a couple hours in the morning while mommy went to a work meeting. It makes Mommy really nervous to think of going back to work soon.  

Friday morning we left for Lake George (Darrell's cabin) for the Black/Wetterling reunion.  It was a little chaotic setting up the camper and getting Riley settled in, but it sure is nice to have our own space in the camper.  Riley got to meet Keller.  It is hard to believe that Riley and Keller are only three days apart!  Riley is SO much bigger than Keller.

Poor Riley got his first mosquito bites over the weekend!  I tried SO hard to keep him covered and protected, but it just didn't work.  

We took a little mini trip to the headwaters of the Mississippi Saturday afternoon.  Riley got to dip his toes in the MIssissippi and Lake Itaska.

Sleeping in the camper was not overly fun for Riley.  We had the pack and play set up, but the only spot for it was under an air conditioning vent.  I turned the air very low, but Riley woke up in the middle of the night and was cold.  His little hands felt like they were in a freezer.  After that, he slept with me the rest of the night and slept til morning.  Riley and Daddy took up most of the bed, but Momma managed to get a little cramped sleep and most importantly, I kept Riley nice and warm.

 It REALLY is ALL about Riley these days.  I am more than happy to miss out on something or change my schedule or plans to benefit him. 

Before leaving Darrell's cabin, Riley also got a very short, slow ride on a 4 wheeler!

It was a nice time with family, BUT it was wonderful to be home and back to a normal routine!
