47 Weeks Old

January 26-February 1

This week Riley started his new day care with Stacey in Hoffman. This meant a whole world of changes--now Mommy would take Riley to daycare each morning.  Now it wouldn't be just Riley at daycare getting all of the attention, but it would be Riley and eight other little kids. His first day of daycare wasn't the best. He only took one very short nap and cried every time Stacey walked away from him.  He is very used to Mommy's and Amanda's one on one attention and he really doesn't like to be left alone.

Tuesday Stacey was over on numbers, so Riley stayed home and Grandpa Dave babysat again.  He had a great day with Grandpa.  Tuesday ended with great excitement--Riley took his very first steps on Tuesday, January 27.  Grandpa and Mommy were sitting on the floor and Mommy put her arms out and Riley took about 3 or 4 steps and walked to Mommy!  We spent most of the night practicing this exciting new skill!

The rest of the week in daycare was similar.  Riley started taking a little bit longer naps, so that was good news.  Stacey just lays him down in his pack and play without rocking him.  I'm not crazy about that, but she says that he only cries for a little while and then he falls asleep.  He still gets upset when Stacey walks away from him.  Hopefully that will improve with time. 

Thursday night Riley began to use more sign language. He readily uses bottle, but now he began to sign "more"!

Friday night Mommy, Daddy, and Riley drove into Alex and ate at GodFather's Pizza.  Afterwards, we went to Walmart to do some shopping.  Riley was a good boy in the shopping cart.  

Saturday Mommy spent most of the day taking Valentine's Day pictures of Riley.
