41 Weeks Old

41 Weeks Old

December 15-21

This was a sad, sad week. Riley lost his Great Grandma Baba Monday night.  She passed away and went up to live in heaven with Jesus.  Tuesday Riley stayed home with daddy. Mommy worked for half a day and then went to Alex to help with funeral arrangements.  Mommy decided to decorate Riley's blue car instead of ordering flowers. That is what Baba would have wanted. Mommy also wrote a poem from Riley. Wednesday mommy and Riley stayed home to work on Baba's photo slideshow.  Thursday mommy worked. Friday was the visitation and Saturday was Baba's funeral. Riley was a good boy throughout it all. All of the guests commented on how cute he was.
Although Riley may never remember his great grandma, I hope one day he realizes how much she loved him.  There is nothing in the world that made her happier for the past nine months than Riley.  She would ask about him every day when she talked to Mommy on the phone.  When we came to visit, she would just sit in awe of "her little Riley".  Over the past few weeks, all she talked about was spending Riley's first Christmas with him.  She was so excited and had Riley's Christmas present picked out for months! There are few people who loved Riley as unconditionally as Baba!
After a very sad few days, Riley did get to celebrate his first Christmas with the Knutson side of the family on Sunday. He got lots of great things including an activity block, a "My 1st Christmas" bear, clothes, a ball set, a fun book, and much more!
